POS integrations: accounting, BI and more

Author: Matti Toorikka, Head of SalesUpdated

The till from one supplier, accounting from another, reports in Excel. In the evening someone moves the day's sales by hand from one place to another. A POS system's data is among a company's most important data, and it has to get where it's needed. In Solmio all data is available through APIs, and the most common systems have a ready integration.

All data is available

Solmio is built so that the till's data doesn't stay in the till. Sales, receipts, products, prices, payment methods, points of sale and stock can be read from the API. The same data you see in the portal's reports is available to your other systems too.

The till can also send every receipt immediately to the company's own address. Another system knows about the sale the moment the customer pays, without having to ask.

That's why a connection doesn't depend on whether a ready integration exists. If a system has an API, Solmio can usually be connected to it.

There are many ready integrations

For the most common systems the connection is ready. It is switched on in the portal's Integrations page with your own credentials, and no programming is needed.

There are ready integrations for, among others, financial management, invoicing, payment processing, online shops and marketing. For example, invoices and the day's sales go to Netvisor or Fennoa without manual work, and online payments go through Viva or Paytrail. The range keeps growing.

Read more about connecting financial management in the guide Invoicing business customers from the till and online shop.

Figures in your own reporting

The portal's reports show sales, margin and stock straight away. When the figures are wanted in your own reporting tool, such as Power BI or a data warehouse, the data is read from the API.

Till figures then combine in the same report with, for example, staff rotas, purchase invoices or the budget. Management sees sales in the same place as the rest of the business.

Your own ERP and central systems

Larger companies and chains often have their own enterprise resource planning, such as Microsoft Dynamics, or a central product register. Through the APIs Solmio connects to them in both directions: products and prices from the central register to the till, and sales, receipts and stock transactions from the till back.

The scope of the connection is agreed together: what data moves, in which direction and how often. It can be built by your own IT partner or by Solmio.

Security

The API is used with a company-specific integration user whose permissions limit what it sees. One company's credentials can't see another company's data. Integration credentials are stored encrypted.

Frequently asked questions

What data can I get from the API?

All the till's data: sales, receipts, products, prices, payment methods, points of sale and stock. The same data you see in the portal's reports can also be read from the API.

Is there a ready integration for our system?

Most likely. There are ready integrations for, among others, financial management, payments, online shops and marketing. Tell us the systems you use, and we'll check.

Can I get Solmio data into Power BI or another reporting tool?

Yes. Data is read from the API into a reporting tool or data warehouse, where till figures can be combined with the company's other data.

Can Solmio be connected to Microsoft Dynamics or our own ERP?

Yes, through the APIs. The scope and who builds the connection are agreed together.

Does the API see every company's data?

No. The API is used with a company-specific integration user whose permissions limit what it sees.
