Solmio-kassa

A point of sale for seasonal sales

Author: Matti Toorikka, Head of SalesUpdated

Is the till ready before the season starts? Seasonal sellers have a short window, so the system has to match that window. Typical cases:

  • summer kiosks, such as an ice-cream stand
  • market stalls selling berries, vegetables and similar goods
  • summer cafés and seasonal restaurants
  • pop-up shops, food stalls, Christmas markets and mobile stores

Every selling day counts. This guide covers what a seasonal till needs, from the first day to the last.

Rent it for the season

Flexibility matters when you sell for a few months a year. Renting means you do not buy hardware that then sits in storage. A summer café or a Christmas-market stall can take the system for the season and return it when the season ends.

Solmio's seasonal rental bills the till for the time you use it. Capital stays free for stock and staff, and the fixed cost does not run through the quiet months. That fits a market stall, a festival or a pop-up that wants costs tied to selling days.

Easy enough for seasonal staff

There is no time for a long technical course. Seasonal staff, or the owner in the middle of a rush, need a till whose basic functions are quick to learn.

A modern touchscreen works like a phone. A clear, fast till keeps the queue short and cuts mistakes, so the work stays on the products and the customers.

Products and prices already loaded

The useful seasonal setup arrives with your products, prices and settings already in the system. You do not spend the first morning typing a menu into a small screen.

An ice-cream kiosk can open with every flavour and price already on the device. The till, the payment terminal and the software come connected in the same package.

Selling on the first day

Prepare products, prices and payment services before opening day. With Solmio, agree on delivery, setup and user guidance in advance, then test payments, receipts and reports before the first customer. On-site installation and training are arranged separately.

For a short-notice stall, check device availability and payment activation times with Solmio before confirming your opening date.

Support and a spare device

Questions and faults still happen. Picture the busiest day at a summer café, or a pop-up at a festival, and the till stops. You need a person who answers, not a ticket queue.

Solmio support is available remotely, and most issues are sorted in minutes. If the device itself fails, a replacement till can be sent so a short season is not lost to a repair wait.

It keeps selling without a stable network

Many pop-ups and market pitches have weak or no Wi-Fi. Each Solmio till has its own SIM connection, and the system keeps working through a short outage. Sales are stored on the device and sent when the connection returns. Some payment providers also support offline payments, within the card scheme's rules, so a bad connection does not stop the queue.

Next step

Seasonal selling works when the till is rented for the season, ready on arrival, quick to learn and able to run without a reliable network.

Pop-up and seasonal sales is the place to see the setup and get in touch about the coming season.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rent a till just for the summer?

Yes. Solmio has separate seasonal rental options, so you don't need to buy the device. The rental period and return are agreed when you order.

Does the till work at a market without Wi-Fi?

A handheld till running on battery and the mobile network needs no fixed installation. Check the coverage at your selling spot. During a network outage sales are stored on the device, but card payments usually need a connection.

Do I have to enter the products myself?

No. When you send your product list, prices and VAT rates in good time, they are added to the till before delivery.

Where do I get help during the selling season?

Phone support is available weekdays 8 AM–4 PM. WhatsApp support is also available in the evenings and at weekends.
